As a traditional ERP provider, Sage certainly had been a force to reckon with in the small-to mid-market ERP space. However, with the advent of Acumatica the tide has turned away from legacy ERP providers. With its millennial friendly ERP features, Acumatica has emerged as the dominant player in the medium sized business market.

What are well established consulting companies like Gartner & Nucleus who compare ERP companies saying?

Seth Lippincott, Analyst at Nucleus in its annual ERP Value Matrix, 2016 placed Acumatica as the leader when compared other Enterprise Resource Planning Solution provider’s including Sage (Fig 1). More specifically she stated: “Because of year to year increase in functionality in its solution, Acumatica will continue to deliver value and positive return on investment similar to what it demonstrated this year”.

What kind of companies have migrated from Sage to Acumatica? Why?

Here is an example of a company that preferred Acumatica over Sage.

FSC Lighting, a California based lighting manufacturer, has transitioned from Sage to Acumatica that has resulted in positive outcomes. Their Sage DacEasy ERP was unable to meet with the demands of a growing business lacking scalability and accountability. As Chad Treadwell, Vice President of Operations, mentions, “DacEasy was an older system … and it didn’t incorporate MRP and warehouse management and the rest of the manufacturing process. There were no inventory locations, and there wasn’t any accountability.” With a broken inventory management system, hindrance to growth was but inevitable. Sage was clearly outdated and inadequate in providing the efficiency of cloud-based solutions.

Adoption of Acumatica ERP solution ushered in the much needed relief from inefficiencies of Sage ERP. “Having Acumatica, JAMS, and Scanco integrated allows us to manage all our inventory from a single location. We can easily look it up in the system and have confidence that it’s accurate”, adds Chad Treadwell (Video 1).

What makes Acumatica a winner in competition to Sage is its ability to harness the power of cloud computing. All you need is the internet and through a standard browser you can access all ERP functionalities. Most of Sage products on the other hand, are still built on older platform architecture lacking speed, functionality and comfort of use. But what really seals the deal for Acumatica is a controlled TCO by not charging per user as Sage.

What does the future hold for Acumatica?

Acumatica’s ample on hand cash gives it the ability to fuel growth. This includes strategic investments in R&D. Also simultaneously it is expanding its global reach by increasing value added relationships (VAR) agreements. Since last round of funding in 2014, bringing the total to $ 30MM; no additional financing is needed. Additional needs are satisfied with cash generated from operations. This picture provides window into the Acumatica platform that is hard to compete with.
