FlexMFG Job Shop for Acumatica
FlexMFG Job Shop is a feature-rich module designed for engineer to order operations of all sizes. It inter-operates with Acumatica’s Distribution Edition, is attractively priced and competes with Macola and other ECi offerings, and in many instances Epicor.
Features of note include a dynamic bill of material which may be of unlimited indentures, serialized at all levels/components, and modifiable at any time during the bidding, planning OR production cycles. The MRP logic aggregates all demand across all work orders consolidating vendor PO’s. Actual labor maybe recorded and billed prior to work order completion; partials are supported. Also, specs, drawings, videos and the like may be appended to bids, jobs and change orders.
FlexMFG incorporates Acumatica’s dashboards and side panels, and MRP interoperates with Acumatica replenishment logic regarding safety stock and EOQ. Users especially like FlexMFG’s scanning function with lets workers enter time without consuming a named user license; and the scheduling tool which instantaneously determines whether labor is available when planning jobs for a given day, week, month, etc. – for all operations or per department.
“NanoCellect assembles a complex biomedical instrument (eg a cell sorter) utilizing a supply chain of out-sourced partners, with several components that have over 26 week leadtime. Our manufacturing flow focusses on supply chain management, configuration control, final integration and test, and we were looking for a solution that did not require a dedicated MRP role (eg WIP management), yet still provided Top Down planning thru multi-layers KIT BOMs and supported tracking serialized components.
At the time NanoCellect was benchmarking ERPs, we were using a combination of Quickbooks, Excel, and starting to leverage SalesForce for CRM. The Acumatica platform allowed us to implement broad usage across the firm, giving every employee access to our Customer Logs, Case Management, and Work Orders, on top of simplifying the accounting and financial planning workloads. Working with ASC (an Acumatica VAR), they not only brought up the platform with us (leveraging a HubSpot API to replace SalesForce functionality), but also developed two customizations that enables our fielded hardware warranty tracking and simplified multi-level Work Order processing (eg the LM module). By utilizing a single robust platform like Acumatica, dashboards and approvals features have increased our productivity with the added advantage of having a single database for both departmental and corporate reporting.”
